The stand of the delhi high court, that a promise made by the chief minister in public is enforceable by law, should be an eye opener to the politicians holding public offices (You made a promise, now keep it. (The New Indian Express 23.07.2021)
It has been observed that our ministers , whether central or state, keep on offering lot of things during their public speeches, but not even 50% of such promises are implemented actually. The public, as usual, listens to the promise and forget about it. With the present order, the responsible citizens should take it upon themselves to take such ministers to court for implementation of promises made by them .
We have an example of our hon'ble finance minister making a statement during an interview , to be repeated in an annual general meeting of IBA , that she and the government were fully aware of the need for revision of pension paid to bank retirees, which has not been done for the past 25 years and IBA had been asked to do the needful in the matter. Even after a lapse of more than 8 months since then, the plight of bank retirees continue. We are surprised to note that IBA and DFS are still sleeping on the issue , in spite of the open promise made by the hon'ble minister!
I would urge upon the hon'ble minister to give instructions to the officials concerned to expedite the matter to ensure that a favourable decision is made within a specified time frame, giving succor to the senior and super senior citizens of the country.
